Tips for Preventing Rosacea

Each individual has a specific case for Rosacea and no one individual has the same exact symptoms and signs for Rosacea although there are common signs. From make up to skin care to diet, all these have to be tailored to fit your lifestyle and Rosacea care.

Just like how you would plan a Rosacea diet, natural treatment plans are also specific to your own case. In doing this, trial and error is your best remedy to see which treatment, what make up or what foods increase or decrease your Rosacea symptoms.

1)     Keep your skin clean- use a skin care regimen that is gentle and non abrasive. If you have a regimen that works for you, use it to clean your face as well as your hands at least twice a day. Mild cleansers work best and avoid any grainy cleaners as this can easily irritate skin.

2)     Use Sunscreen- skin becomes more sensitive with Rosacea so you should invest in a good sunscreen that is gentle and formulated for sensitive skin. Sunlight can aggravate Rosacea so make sure you are protected when you go out.

3)     Stay Cool- Avoid extreme hot or cold temperatures. Heat can aggravate Rosacea as with extreme cold. Stay in cool areas wherever possible and spray your face with cool water if the temperate is hot and humid. Also, drinking cool beverages help to cool down your body temperature.

4)     Foods should be eaten at room temperature. Again, avoiding extremely hot foods as well as extremely cold foods should be practiced. This will lessen any flare ups that could happen after you have eaten a meal.

5)     Easy on the Spices- if you like spicy food now is a good time to avoid it as much as possible. From hot salsa to spicy curries and chili, these are some of the items to have as little as possible. Lowering the spicy level of your foods will help with decreasing the frequency of aggravating Rosacea symptoms. It is okay to indulge once in a while, but even that has to be kept to a limitation.

6)     Saunas, steam baths and hot tubs should be avoided as well and instead, opt for cool showers. Facial steams also apply here. If you do need heated water to shower in, make sure that the temperatures can be controlled.

7)     Eat right- as always, eating right can solve a lot of problems so check what you eat and reduce eating the items that aggravate the condition.
