Diagnosed with Rosacea :(

Hi. My name is Peter and I was diagnosed with Rosacea on March 9th 2010.

This is my story and it’s an ongoing story …

About 3 weeks ago I woke and my chin was covered in redness from just below the bottom lip down. It itched quite bit but at the time I thought it was allergic reaction to spices or shaving rash. So I left it and it got worse. It broke out into spots and began to occasionally burn, like a match was close. When a phase of spots broke out they would go away only to re-appear a day or two after.

My skin is quite fair and the redness stood out a mile. The burning sensation made me very self conscious. Surely if I could feel it everyone else could see it. Going to business meetings I had to hide it and was always putting my hand around my mouth out of embarrassment. I was very uncomfortable for 3 weeks and then it never got any better by itself.

I booked in to see the doctor, and here in Britain I had the doom feeling of waiting for 2 weeks to see one. I got lucky though there was a cancellation and I could have a slot in 2 days time.

In the mean time I tried to hide it by putting sun-tan cream on. It helped to quel the burning but didn’t have any effect on the redness.

The doctor, a very kind Asian gentleman, had a look from different angles and pronounced: “It’s Rosacea”. I didn’t know what what is was. He prescribed some Rozex gel Topico and said to use it when I get up and when I go to bed. Sure!

At least I’m on the way to sorting out …

(I wish I had taken photos but I couldn’t stand looking at it, it got me down)
